We want to thank everyone who participated in this event for their time, energy, and generous donations in helping to support our benefit for the Lucile Packard Foundation for Children’s Health. All donated, non-art auction items sold at prices above their suggested values and we could not be more pleased with a total donation of $9000!

With the support of folks like you, organizations such as the Lucile Packard Foundation have helped increase the survival rate of children diagnosed with cancer from about 25 percent in 1960, to approximately 80 percent today. Pediatric specialists maintain that, with a continuous infusion of dollars to support new research, clinical trials, and cutting-edge therapies, the overall mortality rate for pediatric cancers can be reduced to below 10 percent in the near future.

In planning for this fundraiser, the gesture that touched us the most was not just the willingness of people like you to donate time & services; it was the absence of the ‘what’s in it for us?’ attitude that sometimes distracts people from the true purpose of a benefit such as this. In that spirit, we decided not to recoup any of our costs associated with the planning of the event, making possible a donation of 100% of the proceeds from the benefit to the Foundation for Children’s Health.

For more information on events, volunteer opportunities, and how your donations are helping to finance this worthy cause, please visit www.LPFCH.org.

Thank you again, we look forward to additional benefits in 2006 and appreciate your support.

Sincerely,
The Heritage Properties / Concentric Capital Team

About C Ribet and his association with Dr. Link and the Foundation

Thirty years ago, artist C Ribet was one of the first cancer patients of Dr. Michael Link-whose tireless work in the field of pediatric cancer treatment resulted in Mr. Ribet's full recovery from the disease. Dr. Link continues his work today as Chief of Hematology and Oncology at The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health at Stanford, where he oversees a research fund supporting a variety of promising projects each year. In honor of C Ribet's personal struggle with the disease, and to help Dr. Link continue his work, all auction proceeds will go directly to The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health and Dr Link's research fund.

About the Foundation

The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health is devoted exclusively to promoting, protecting, and sustaining the health of children, with a focus on San Mateo and Santa Clara counties in Northern California. Recognizing that no single strategy can address the diverse health needs of children, the Foundation pursues its mission through three distinct yet complementary programs:

  • Fundraising for Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and the pediatric programs at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
  • Grantmaking to promote the health and well being of children through partnerships with community organizations in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
  • Public Information and Education to raise awareness about the state of children's health.

The Foundation, an independent public charity, is named for Lucile Salter Packard (1914-1987), in honor of her lifelong commitment to the well being of children.

Mrs. Packard and her husband, David (1912-1996), cofounder of Hewlett Packard Company, were the driving forces behind the development of Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford, from which the independent Foundation evolved.

The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health was established in 1996, after the consolidation of the previously independent Packard Children's Hospital with the adult hospital and clinics of the Stanford University Medical Center.
